On day one we will welcome Glasgow Museums curators and external experts who will investigate the Burrell Collection’s outstanding collection of Stained and Painted Glass as well as delving into an exploration of material, design and engraving techniques demonstrated in European table Glass. 

You can get hands on and practical at day two’s workshop with glass artist Siobhan Healy who will take you through the process of glass engraving. You will leave with your own piece of engraved glass. Materials provided.

On both days refreshments will be provided but please bring or purchase your own lunch.

DAY ONE - Friday 25th

  • 11:15 – Welcome, intros and housekeeping 
  • 11:30 – Edward Johnson – Curator of Medieval and Renaissance Art, “The Stained Glass of Sir William Burrell"
  • 12:15 – Laura Bauld – Curator of Decorative Arts, “Clink!: European Table Glass at The Burrell Collection”
  • 13:00 – lunch
  • 14:00 – David King, FSA - 'Beatrix of Valkenburg and the Norwich Greyfriars'
  • 14:45 – Siobhan Healy – Contemporary Glass Art
  • 15:30 – wrap up/final questions
  • 16:00 - close

DAY TWO - Saturday 26th 

  • 11:00 – arrival and refreshments
  • 11:15 – Practical session with Siobhan Healy
  • 13:00 – Lunch
  • 13.45 – Practical session resumes
  • 16:00 – session ends
