Discovering Degas: Online Study Day
Join us for a day of exciting new insights on Degas!
To celebrate Discovering Degas and the 150th anniversary of Impressionism, the University of Glasgow and the Burrell Collection are mounting ‘Discovering Degas’ on 28th September.
This brings together leading scholars to explore new perspectives on Degas, prompted by the exhibition’s first ever display of 23 works by Degas from Sir William Burrell’s collection. Investigating issues of race, skin colour, addiction, death, and bodily pose in Degas’s art, as well as aspects of the history of collecting, it will show that Degas was not just a painter of ballet dancers and racehorses, but an artist who still speaks profoundly to viewers today.
The full programme can be found here.
This event will be held online via Zoom on Saturday 28 September from 10.30am. Please visit the University of Glasgow website to register your attendance in advance and receive the Zoom link.
Zoom links will be sent out to attendees on Friday 27 September.
