Join us for the first in our new programme of Creative Masterclasses where you can delve deeper into selected areas of the Collection.

First up is an exploration of the Tapestry collection. On Day One, join staff experts and visiting specialists for a series of talks looking at the tapestries and the continued making of tapestries by organisations such as Dovecot Studios.

On Day Two get hands on with master weavers from Dovecot to find out how tapestries are made and create your own mini tapestry.

12:30    Talk 2 – Maggie Dobbie, Textile Conservator: Conserving Tapestries

2:15      Talk 3 - Helen Wyld, Senior Curator of Historic Textiles, National Museums Scotland

3:00      Talk 4  - Celia Joy, Dovecot Studios: Scotland’s world-renowned tapestry studio

4:00      Finish


Saturday 1 October

10:00    Arrival and refreshments

10.15    Practical session with Master Weavers from Dovecot Studios (materials provided)

12.30    Lunch (not provided) and opportunity to visit gallery
