Join us for a day of activities inspired by our home planet.
We’re celebrating Earth Day at The Burrell Collection with an entire day of workshops, events and activities inspired by our home planet as part of #TheWildEscape, a major new Art Fund project uniting hundreds of museums and schools around the UK, in a celebration of wildlife and culture.
Join us on Saturday 22 April from 11am-4pm and try your hand at Qigoing/Tai Chi, get crafty with our take-home creative workshops, join a guided tour led by one of our Curators…plus much more to discover on the day!

Curator’s Gallery Talks
Join our expert curators as they take an in-depth look at some of the themes, histories, and objects from within our Collection.
1.30pm: 'Gardens and flowers as a metaphor for life in Persian and Ottoman culture and art' by Noorah Al Gailani, Curator of Islamic Civilisations (30 minutes)
2.30pm: 'The Fragrances of the four seasons' by Yupin Chung, Curator of Chinese and Far Eastern Civilisations (30 minutes)
LGBTQ+ Tour (2pm)
Learn about some of the hidden histories from within our Collection and discover something new at The Burrell Collection.

Our expert Volunteer Guides will take you on a journey through our galleries at various times throughout the day.

Visit our courtyard where you will find a whole host of exciting creative family-friendly workshops to try your hand at. All materials will be provided, so don’t miss the chance to bring home a brand new creation to remember Earth Day by!

Sessions for adults (14+):
Qigong / Tai chi with Bob Lowey (11am-12pm)
Experience the benefits of this ancient Chinese practice, relaxing and unwinding in the beautiful setting of Pollok Park and The Burrell Collection.
Mending Club workshop with Re-jean Denim (Time TBA)
Develop your skills to repair your well-loved (worn out) clothes by learning Sashiko and Boro mending and patching techniques. These mending techniques are a great mindful practice that will help you to implement a more sustainable way of living.
Hosted by ReJean's Siobhan, everything you need to take part will be provided. If you have a garment that you would like to bring along to mend, please feel free! If not, you can still work on your stitching skills.

Hapa zome printing with GCC Countryside Rangers (11am-4pm)
Quite literally meaning ‘leaf dye’, try this Japanese technique of smashing flowers and leaves into fabric to create something beautiful from nature

Hiding amongst the treasures and artefacts in our galleries, sit hidden 10 origami birds. Once you find one, bring it back to reception to collect a prize!
