Folkhouse, Cardinal Directions: N3 Aurora Australis

A voyage chronicled through contemporary folk music for Scottish harp and string orchestra.

Folkhouse is delighted to present the third concert in our CARDINAL DIRECTIONS series: 'Aurora Australis'. 

For the past four weeks, we have been journeying across four Glasgow communities located in the North, East, and South sides of our home city: each evening presenting a new and exciting programme for folk musicians and string orchestra, all overlaid with poetry, brilliant guest artists, and new music premiers. 

Set in the beautiful Burrell Collection located in Pollok Country Park on 11 September, the third concert Aurora Australis is the 'south' stop on Folkhouse's journey, and is named for the southern lights which emerge miraculously under the right conditions in the Antarctic region. 

We highlight music which crosses the boundaries between folk and classical: a magical combination which emerges under rare conditions, and forms the basis of Folkhouse.
