Creative Masterclass - Silver | Day 2
To celebrate the upcoming publication of our latest book, "Introducing British Silver" The Burrell Collection is offering an exciting deep dive into our silver collection with experts from Glasgow Museums, R.L. Christie and Vanilla Ink studios.
On day one, hear from the experts with a day of presentations from Laura Bauld (Curator of Decorative Arts, 1603-1800) who will be sharing insights into the silver collection at the Burrell and exploring silver marks, Lyndsay McGill (R.L. Christie) who will discuss Scottish silver and Ellie Smith-Barret (CEO, Vanilla Ink Studios) who will share insights into how contemporary practise is influenced by traditional techniques.
On the second day there will be a practical workshop with tutors from Vanilla Ink Studios who will lead you through various silver techniques so that you can create either a pendant or pair of earrings in silver. Making one piece of jewellery is included in the workshop cost however should you wish to make a second there will be opportunities to purchase this on the day.
